Conductive FIBC (Type C FIBC) bags are specially designed anti-static FIBCs that form a complete conductive network by weaving conductive threads (usually carbon fiber or metal wire) into the woven fabric. These bags must be grounded to safely conduct static electricity generated during filling and unloading to the ground, completely eliminating the risk of explosions and fires caused by electrostatic sparks.

Type C bags are distinct from other anti-static FIBCs due to their conductive grid construction:
| Feature | Type C Conductive | Type B | Type D |
|---|---|---|---|
| Protection Mechanism | Conductive threads ground static | Low breakdown voltage (<6kV) | Static dissipative fabric |
| Grounding Required | MANDATORY | Not required | Not required (recommended) |
| Surface Resistance | <10⁸ ohms (typically <10⁷) | <6kV breakdown voltage | Varies by design |
| Best Application | Explosive atmospheres, flammable dusts | Non-flammable dust environments | When grounding unreliable |
During filling and discharge, material movement generates significant static charges. Without proper control, standard FIBCs can accumulate dangerous electrostatic energy, leading to:
Brush Discharges – Can ignite combustible dust clouds
Propagating Brush Discharges – High-energy discharges from insulated conductors
Spark Discharges – Direct ignition source for explosive atmospheres
Type C conductive bags eliminate these risks by providing a controlled path to ground.
Electrical Performance Requirements
Resistance between ground points: <10⁸ ohms (certified)
Interconnection: All panels, lifting loops, and grounding tabs must form continuous conductive path
Grounding Points: Clearly marked (typically blue tabs or universal ground symbol)
Loop Conductivity: Lifting loops must contain conductive threads connected to bag body
Compliance with International Standards
IEC 61340-4-4 – Electrostatic compatibility for FIBCs
CENELEC TR 50404 – Electrostatics code of practice
NFPA 77 – Recommended practice on static electricity
ATEX – Available for European hazardous area compliance
Safety Features
Complete conductive grid with no dead zones
Interconnected components: body, loops, seams, and grounding tabs
Prevents all types of electrostatic discharges
Batch-tested and certified resistance values
Clear grounding instructions on every bag
Structural Performance
